Kurt P. Kerns started his legal career as a civil practitioner at
Redmond, Redmond, and Nazar in Wichita, Kansas. His early successes
in criminal litigation convinced him that this was his calling in
the legal profession. He has continued this success in his own practice,
as the founding partner of Ariagno, Kerns, Mank & White, L.L.C.
Frequent
courtroom victories in complex, high profile cases across the state
have earned him the respect of his peers. By the age of 35, Mr.
Kerns attained an AV rating as reflected in Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Kerns trial skills were enhanced further by his completion
of training at the National Criminal Defense College, as well as
Gerry Spences Trial Lawyer College in Dubois, Wyoming.
Mr.
Kerns successes include state, federal, and appellate cases
involving various crimes including drug conspiracies, first-degree
murder, fraud, and computer crime.
Currently,
Mr. Kerns clients have avoided conviction in ten consecutive federal
jury trials. In five murder trials, his clients have experienced
four outright acquittals and one lesser manslaughter conviction.
He
has served on the Board of Governors for the Kansas Association
of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a life member of the National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and has recently been added
to the list of approved defense counsel to practice before the International
War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague, Netherlands.
Mr.
Kerns is a frequent lecturer at legal seminars across the state.
